Joseph A. Ball honored as Lawyer of the Century



On Feb. 3, 2017, the Long Beach Bar Association (LBBA) celebrated its centennial anniversary and honored Joseph A. Ball as “Lawyer of the Century."

Renowned for his skill in the courtroom, Ball was recognized for his legacy of success in both civil and criminal cases. Notably, he was appointed as a senior counsel to the Warren Commission, which was tasked with investigating the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Prior to his passing in 2000, Ball's legal career in Southern California included over five decades at Ball, Hunt & Hart, a firm he founded in 1946. Ball, Hunt & Hart later merged to become Carlsmith Ball. Partner Albert Ebright accepted the honorary certificate on behalf of Joseph Ball and Carlsmith Ball. The certificate will be framed and displayed in the lobby of the firm’s Los Angeles office.
