Bill Harstad Offers Insight into the Civil Litigation Process
Instantaneous information at our finger tips seems to usher in equally fast snap judgements, especially in the comment section of online news stories. The civil litigation process in contrast can seem like a lengthy procedure. In his most recent Star-Advertiser “Lawyer Up” column, Honolulu partner Bill Harstad explains why it might take a while to get to trial.
“People involved in a non-criminal lawsuit for the first time often are surprised by the lengthy process,” Harstad writes. “However, the system is designed and has evolved over decades (if not centuries) to safeguard against reaching the kind of snap judgments you see on the internet.”
