Carlsmith Ball Provides Volunteer Legal Services to Hawaii Host Committee for APEC
Carlsmith partner Joanne Grimes was quoted in an article in Pacific Business News on November 11, 2011, on the $5 million given by local firms to the APEC effort. Ms. Grimes, head of the firm's APEC commitments, noted that Carlsmith Ball had provided some 1,100 hours in volunteer legal services to the Hawaii Host Committee since May 2010. She was quoted as saying, "We wanted to be part of the efforts to showcase Hawaii as a place to do business, to encourage and support economic activity in the state in responsible and respectful ways." "This unprecedented project gave us the chance to develop expertise and spend quality time with business, community, and government leaders, plus many enthusiastic behind-the-scene volunteers."
