Two Carlsmith Ball Attorneys Promoted to Partner
Carlsmith Ball is pleased to announce that Lucas Love and Puananionaona “Onaona” Thoene have been promoted to partner in the firm’s Honolulu office.
Love is a member of Carlsmith Ball’s tax practice group. His practice includes tax planning for business transactions, international tax planning and compliance, tax controversy and audit defense, estate planning for large estates and small business owners, trust and estate administration, and nonprofit organization formation and administration. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law in Berkeley, California, and previously served as an associate at Baker & McKenzie in Palo Alto, California, before joining Carlsmith Ball in 2015.
Thoene is a member of the firm’s real property, environmental and corporate practice groups. Her practice also focuses on land use, administrative and regulatory law. She graduated magna cum laude with her J.D. from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, William S. Richardson School of Law, with certificates in environmental law and Native Hawaiian law. Thoene currently serves as chair of the State of Hawaii Environmental Council and is a member of the Hawaiian Islands Land Trust, Oahu Island Advisory Council. She has been with Carlsmith Ball since 2013.
